Yesterday Kelly, John, Henry, and John's mom Meludy Beasley all participated in a 5K walk. The walk raised $25,000 for the group Kansas Infant Death and SIDS Network. It was a cold morning. The wind blew our skin rosy and raindrops clouded our glasses as we walked. After the race, we walked around the stadium and viewed pictures on little memorial signs lining the inner ring of the track of babies who had died. We thought about Noah and all the other babies lost and cried, and we smiled at the friendships and support and hope for the future. Kelly's smile was broad and real and contagious. I was very happy to be there. After walking around the stadium, each in the crowd wrote a note to his or her lost baby and tied it to a balloon. A list of baby names was read off and we let our balloon up to the sky when the words "Noah Flynn Beasley" were read over the loud speakers.
